The fifth phase of the i-Road project, implemented under the Rural Road Development Program, was launched in the Eastern Province yesterday, aiming to improve connectivity in rural areas.
A total of Rs. 5,057.26 million has been allocated for the province, which will be used to develop 96 rural roads. The project is expected to enhance transportation, facilitate local economic activities, and improve access to essential services in remote communities.
Officials emphasized that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to modernize rural infrastructure and support regional development across the Eastern Province.
