England secured a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second One Day International at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday, leveling the three-match series at 1–1.

Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 219 runs in 49.3 overs. Captain Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva were the main contributors for the hosts, each registering scores in excess of 40, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to build lasting partnerships.

In reply, England chased down the target with relative comfort, guided by a superb innings from Joe Root. His composed knock anchored the chase and ensured England reached the target with five wickets in hand.

With the series now tied, the decider promises an exciting finish as both teams head into the third and final ODI.
