The authority reported that the highest number of arrivals in a single day was recorded on January 15, when 10,483 tourists entered the country.
India emerged as Sri Lanka’s largest source market during this period, contributing 35,177 visitors. This was followed by Russia with 19,930 arrivals, the United Kingdom with 19,893, and Germany with 12,822 tourists.
Tourism officials say the strong early-year performance reflects growing international confidence in Sri Lanka as a travel destination and signals a positive outlook for the country’s tourism sector in 2026.
