According to the forecast, fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm may occur at several locations in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee District.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in the remaining parts of the island after around 2.00 p.m.

The department also notes that misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central, Southern and Uva Provinces.

The public is kindly advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage and risks caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
