In a statement, the GMOA said the trade union action is being launched due to the Health Ministry’s failure to implement agreements reached to address issues faced by medical officers, as well as to protect Sri Lanka’s free healthcare service.
However, the association stressed that the strike will not affect services at maternity and children’s hospitals, kidney hospitals, and cancer hospitals, ensuring uninterrupted care for essential and critical patients.
The GMOA is expected to outline further details on services during the strike and any possible discussions with health authorities.
