As part of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy Tour, the prestigious World Cup trophy was parachuted into the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS) in Colombo by Sri Lanka Tri-Forces Para Jumpers.

The spectacular display took place just before the first ODI of the ongoing Sri Lanka vs. England series. Five para jumpers representing the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, and Air Force participated in the operation.

The jumpers included Wing Commander Sampath Piyasundra and Lieutenant Colonels Nalin Kulathunga and Pushpakumara from the Army, Air Commodore Kamal Thissakumara of the Navy’s Special Boat Squadron, and Air Commodore Jagath Godakanda of the Air Force, who served as the senior parachutist.

During the jump, the team carried the Sri Lanka National Flag, Sri Lanka Cricket Flag, ICC World Cup Flag, the official World Cup tagline “Feel the Thrill,” and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy, which was safely delivered to the ground by Air Commodore Jagath Godakanda.

The Sri Lanka leg of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour will continue on 23rd January, with a media display at SSC Ground at 10:30 a.m. followed by a public display in front of Dialog Headquarters at 3:00 p.m.
