Sri Lanka Police say Interpol Red Notices have been issued for 95 large-scale criminals currently residing overseas, as authorities move to bring them back to the country swiftly.

Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F. U. Wootler stated that steps are being taken to expedite the process of returning the suspects to Sri Lanka.

He also noted that the largest narcotics haul in recent history was detected and seized during the past year, highlighting intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking.

The remarks were made at a media briefing held at the Government Information Department on the government’s programme to eliminate the illegal drug menace.

Meanwhile, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation M. S. Amith said 746 individuals addicted to narcotics are currently undergoing rehabilitation at three rehabilitation centres.
