The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has launched a 24-hour token strike at the National Eye Hospital in Colombo, starting from 8.00 a.m. today.

The GMOA says the action was initiated over several unresolved issues, including concerns about the implementation of annual transfers and what it describes as alleged injustices and unfair treatment of doctors.

Hospital sources say services at the National Eye Hospital are likely to be disrupted during the period of the strike, while the GMOA has urged the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to address the concerns raised.
