The prevailing dry weather conditions across the country are expected to show a slight change from tomorrow (23), according to the latest weather forecast.

Mainly dry weather will continue to prevail in most parts of the island. However, there is a possibility of ground frost occurring in some areas of the Nuwara Eliya District during the early hours of the morning.

Misty conditions are also expected in several regions, particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central and Uva Provinces. In addition, mist may form in the districts of Galle, Matara, Ampara and Vavuniya during the early morning hours, motorists are advised to exercise caution.

Sea Area Weather Forecast (Next 24 Hours)

Rainfall:

Mainly fair weather is expected to prevail in the sea areas around the island.

Winds:

Winds will be north-easterly to northerly, with speeds ranging between 30–40 kmph. Wind speeds may increase up to 50 kmph at times, especially in sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Kalutara via Puttalam and Colombo, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

Sea Conditions:

The sea areas off the coasts from Mannar to Kalutara via Puttalam and Colombo, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil, may be rough at times. Other sea areas around the island are expected to be slight to moderate.

Fishermen and naval communities are advised to be vigilant and pay close attention to future weather updates.
