The main objective of the festival is to promote understanding, appreciation, and harmony among Sri Lanka’s diverse cultures during the sacred month of Ramadan.
First launched in 2025, the event received an overwhelmingly positive response, leading to its organization for the second consecutive year.
The three-day cultural festival will be held on February 27, 28, and March 1, 2026, at Green Path (Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha), Colombo, from 5.00 PM until midnight.
The festival will serve as a platform to showcase the unique identities of Sri Lanka’s Muslim sub-communities, including Moors, Malays, Memons, and Bohras. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience traditional food, clothing, handicrafts, and various cultural elements of these communities.
Designed to reflect the vibrant atmosphere of Middle Eastern Ramadan street festivals, the venue will feature a main cultural stage with performances such as singing, dancing, drama, and Baith recitals. School and community groups will be given the opportunity to perform, and special awards will be presented in recognition of their talents.
In addition, the festival will include educational stalls on Muslim heritage, free religious literature, Henna art, Arabic calligraphy, and other interactive cultural experiences open to the public.
The Salam Ramadan 2026 Organizing Committee warmly invites all Sri Lankans, regardless of ethnicity or religion, to come together and enjoy this unique cultural celebration in the spirit of unity and coexistence.
