A person has been arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) in Nittambuwa with more than 60 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice”.
According to information received by officers attached to the Gonahena STF camp, the drugs were seized during a raid carried out in the Araliya Lane, Pinnagolla Watta area in Nittambuwa.
The suspect was arrested while transporting 61 kilograms and 838 grams of ice in a three-wheeler. The STF stated that the street value of the seized narcotics exceeds Rs. 900 million.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect is a close associate of notorious organized criminal and drug trafficker known as “Dubai Waruna,” who is currently overseas. The suspect is also reportedly linked to Mohammed Siddique and Dilindu Sanjeewa alias “Lena,” who is presently serving a prison sentence.
