The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has launched a digital fuel card system for all government vehicles to enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability in fuel distribution, according to the Ministry of Digital Economy.
Under the new scheme, state-owned vehicles will be issued with a dedicated digital fuel card, enabling them to obtain fuel from any filling station islandwide.
The ministry said the initiative aims to minimise fuel wastage, fraud and other irregularities, while also reducing delays associated with existing documentation procedures. The system will facilitate accurate monitoring and reporting of fuel consumption by government institutions.
The CPC noted that the digitalisation of fuel distribution is expected to strengthen the management of state resources, reduce fuel losses and support efforts to boost the national economy.
