The government has expressed readiness to debate the no-confidence motion against Education Minister Harini Amarasuriya on January 22nd and 23rd, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said.
Speaking in Parliament, Dr. Jayatissa added that if the opposition is not prepared for the debate, an adjournment discussion on education reforms could instead be held on Thursday and Friday.
However, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the decision on the no-confidence motion rests with the opposition, and contrary to the government’s claims, they are not ready to hold the debate.
