The newly constructed Baladaksha Mawatha flyover was officially opened to the public today, aiming to ease traffic congestion in Colombo’s busy city areas.
The flyover, 340 meters long and 11 meters wide, allows vehicles to travel from Galle Face to Company Road and Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha. It is the third flyover in a series planned to reduce traffic congestion in Colombo.
Constructed under the Road Development Authority (RDA) and funded by the Government of Sri Lanka, the project forms part of the Sustainable Road Development Program launched by the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister Bimal Ratnayake, Colombo Mayor Vrai Kelley Balthazar, RDA Chairman T. Paskaran, Retired Director General H. H. N. A. Hettiarachchi, and senior officials from the Police Department.
