Estate workers’ daily wage increased to Rs. 1,750

The daily wage of estate workers has been increased by Rs. 400 with effect from this month, according to the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Samantha Vidyarathna.

As a result, the daily wage of estate workers will rise to Rs. 1,750, the Minister stated.

He further explained that this decision was taken with the objective of improving the living standards of estate workers and ensuring them a fair income.

The wage revision is considered an important step in providing economic relief to plantation workers and is also expected to contribute to improving productivity in the plantation sector.
