The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has announced that the strike by doctors in all government hospitals across the Eastern Province will resume from 8.00 a.m. today (19), citing the government’s failure to respond to their demands.

The industrial action, which was temporarily suspended in view of the Thai Pongal festival, will now continue as planned due to the lack of a satisfactory response from the authorities.

The GMOA stated that the decision was taken after repeated requests for discussions and solutions were ignored. The association emphasized that patient welfare remains a priority, but stressed that urgent action is needed to address the issues faced by medical officers in the region.

Further details regarding emergency services and the scope of the strike are expected to be announced by the GMOA.
