The Department of Agrarian Development said 911 farmers have registered so far on FarmerNET.lk, a digital platform launched under the government’s national policy to digitalise public services.
Commissioner General of Agrarian Development Chaminda Ekanayake said farmers across the country can now register for the service online.
As part of the initiative, a ground-level awareness programme will be conducted from February 2 to February 15 to educate farmers on the use of the system.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Namal Karunaratne said the primary objective of FarmerNET.lk is to establish a comprehensive national database for the agricultural sector.
Ekanayake said officials will ensure that farmers are properly informed on how to effectively access and use the digital platform during the outreach programme.
