Accordingly, the Senate’s recommendations regarding the appointment have been forwarded to the US President. The move follows Mr. Meyer’s presentation before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Mr. Meyer, a senior diplomat and career member of the US Foreign Service, is currently serving as a senior officer in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. He has previously held key roles coordinating US policy in several Central and South Asian countries, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Ms. Julie Chang, who served as the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, resigned from her post yesterday (16).
