Sri Lanka welcomed 131,898 tourists during the first 15 days of 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

January 15 was recorded as the day with the highest number of arrivals, with 10,483 tourists entering the country on that single day.

India emerged as the largest source market during this period, with 23,786 visitors. Russia followed with 14,785 tourists, while 12,166 visitors arrived from the United Kingdom. Germany ranked fourth, contributing 9,260 tourists.

The SLTDA stated that the steady influx of tourists reflects the continued growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector at the start of the new year.
