The accident took place on the Kelaniya–Biyagama Road as she was attempting to enter her residence, when a car travelling from the Kelaniya direction collided with her vehicle.
A police officer on night security duty at the MP’s residence had informed the police about the incident.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, a resident of Kalutara North, was found to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, according to preliminary police investigations.
The injured woman is currently receiving treatment at hospital, while Biyagama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
