Deputy Minister of Fisheries Rathna Gamage said that all construction, removal, and excavation activities along the southern coastal tourist zone will be temporarily suspended during the tourist season.

He said instructions have been issued to ensure that all construction work in coastal areas, including Unawatuna, Rumassala, Yaddehimulla, Mihiripenna, Habaraduwa, Kathaluwa, and Ahangama, is completed before the tourism season begins to prevent disruptions and protect the coastal environment.

Deputy Minister Gamage added that relevant authorities have been directed to prepare a centralized annual plan at the start of each year. This plan will coordinate the completion of all construction, removal, excavation, and city beautification work prior to the tourist season.
