The national Farmers Registration System, FarmerNet.lk, was launched yesterday at the Farmers’ Hall under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation, K.D. Lalkantha.

The digital platform aims to resolve long-standing issues in the agriculture sector, including data shortages, inefficient decision-making and resource wastage. Through the system, farmers will be able to register and access services more easily, while agricultural officers will be better positioned to deliver targeted support.

The programme forms part of the government’s broader policy to digitize public services and establish a centralized database of farmers across the country.
