Two young children injured in a shooting incident in the Jinthupitiya area of Colombo last night are reported to be in stable condition, police said.

Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police F.U. He added that medical teams are providing all necessary care and that the children’s condition is good.

The shooting took place in the area known as 125 Wattha, Jinthupitiya. A 44-year-old resident of Colombo 13 who was critically injured in the incident later died after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

According to police, preliminary investigations have revealed that the shooting was linked to a clash between two underworld gangs. A group that arrived at the scene in a three-wheeler is suspected to have carried out the attack before fleeing the area.
