Three more suspects have been arrested for aiding and abetting the shooting incident in which a 16-year-old girl was injured in front of a house in the Bodhiyatta area of Kohuwala on December 30, last year, police said.
The shooting was carried out by two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle. Investigations into the incident were launched by the Kohuwala Police in collaboration with the Moratuwa Police Special Task Force.
Accordingly, a team from the Moratuwa Police Special Task Force arrested the three suspects yesterday (15) within the Dematagoda and Wellampitiya Police Divisions. The suspects were later produced at the Kohuwala Police Station.
The arrested individuals, aged 27, 32, and 35, are residents of Colombo 09 and Colombo 12.
Police further stated that during ongoing investigations, a 32-year-old suspect who had provided the motorcycle used in the shooting and assisted the perpetrators was arrested in the Badowita area on January 6.
In addition, four other suspects were arrested on January 3 in Kalubowila.
Those four suspects include the motorcycle rider, the individual who handled the firearm, the person who transported the weapons, and the suspect who provided accommodation to the shooters. They are aged 25, 28, 33, and 45.
