The national campaign was launched on October 30, 2025, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, while the Southern Province program took place in Tangalle on November 20, 2025.
The objective of today’s Northern Province program is to raise awareness among the public about the dangers of drug abuse, explain the key role of the “Rata Ma Ekata” campaign, and encourage positive participation from the community and all relevant stakeholders.
The campaign focuses on several key actions, including:
Taking legal action against drug users, dealers, and traffickers
Rehabilitating individuals addicted to drugs
Building strong social awareness against drug abuse
Ensuring coordination among all government and non-government institutions
Promoting positive messaging to eliminate drug-related threats
According to the Police Media Division, 69,960 drug-related raids were carried out under the campaign from October 30, 2025, to January 13, 2026.
During this period:
69,318 suspects were arrested
1,446 suspects were detained under detention orders
Investigations into 58 suspects’ illegal assets have begun
1,384 drug users have been referred for rehabilitation
The “Rata Ma Ekata” National Campaign aims to protect society by preventing the health, social, and economic damage caused by drug abuse and ensuring a safer future for the country.
