Deputy Minister of Urban Development Eranga Gunasekara emphasized that education is the foundation of a child’s future and that it must be protected and strengthened at all costs.
“Education is the future of the child. That future cannot be played with,” he said, addressing concerns raised about ongoing changes in the education sector.
He stressed that the government is focused on building an education system that nurtures creativity, knowledge and human values among children.
According to the Deputy Minister, the objective is to develop a generation that is equipped with modern knowledge and skills while maintaining compassion and responsibility.
Gunasekara criticized the opposition for attempting to politicize education-related issues and accused them of spreading false information among the public.
He assured that the government would correct existing shortcomings in the system and move forward with a clear plan to uplift education in the country.
“The opposition fears a generation built on science and knowledge. But we are confident that the people will understand the truth and support our efforts to create a better future for the children of this country,” he added.
