All arrangements have been finalized for the islandwide cycling tour “Lanka Ride 2026”, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Department of Sports Development, and the Lake House Institution. The event will commence today (16).

The special significance of this year’s tour is that it marks the revival of the major cycling race after a 21-year gap.

The first day’s program will begin at 9.00 a.m. from the Lake House premises in Colombo, with a symbolic free ride up to Peliyagoda. The official race will start from Peliyagoda and cover a distance of 105 kilometers, concluding around 12.30 p.m. in Gannoruwa, Kandy.

The second stage of the race will take place from Kandy to Anuradhapura, covering a distance of 135.5 kilometers.

The final stage will run from Anuradhapura to Colombo via Puttalam Road, spanning 208 kilometers, and will conclude near Independence Square, Colombo 07.

The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled to be held on the 18th at 4.30 p.m.
