Colombo Stock Market hits new record high

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) reached a historic milestone today (14) as its benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) climbed to a new all-time high of 23,708.70 points, surpassing the previous record of 23,659.70 points set on 12 November 2025.

The ASPI gained 100.90 points, or 0.43%, by the close of trading, reflecting continued investor confidence and strong market activity.

Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 Index, which tracks the performance of the 20 largest and most liquid companies, also recorded a notable increase. It rose by 63.65 points or 0.98% to close at 6,558.41 points.

Market turnover for the day exceeded Rs. 9.26 billion, indicating robust trading volumes and sustained interest from both local and foreign investors.

Analysts say the upward momentum highlights positive sentiment in the market, driven by improved economic outlook, corporate earnings expectations, and growing investor participation.
