A new tourism initiative titled “Dambulla Bustaurant” is set to be launched on January 15, 2026, at Palwehera, Dambulla, aiming to offer visitors a fresh and unique travel experience in the Dambulla–Sigiriya tourist zone.

The specially designed bus service will allow tourists to enjoy restaurant-style dining facilities while traveling through key attractions in the region. The planned route will start from Palwehera and travel via Digampathaha, Kimbissa, Sigiriya, and Inamaluwa before returning to Palwehera.

This concept, which has been successfully used in several countries to promote tourism, is expected to add a novel dimension to the travel experience of both local and foreign tourists visiting the area.

The Dambulla Bustaurant project is being implemented under the guidance of the Central Provincial Department of Tourism, with the objective of enhancing tourism appeal and visitor satisfaction in the region.
