Rear Admiral Srinivas Maddula, Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation & Intelligence) of the Indian Navy, met Sri Lanka’s Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), yesterday (13 January) to discuss strengthening bilateral defence and maritime cooperation.

The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between the two countries in areas such as maritime security, intelligence sharing, and joint training initiatives. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regional stability and ensuring safety in the Indian Ocean region

The discussions also highlighted the long-standing defence ties between India and Sri Lanka and the importance of continued cooperation to address emerging security challenges.
