The donation will ensure the provision of free school uniforms for students in government and government-assisted schools, as well as student monks in state-approved Pirivena institutions.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya expressed Sri Lanka’s deep appreciation for China’s continued assistance, noting that its support extends beyond the education sector.

“China has consistently supported Sri Lanka, even during crises like Cyclone Ditwa. Today’s contribution reflects our shared commitment to ensuring every child learns with dignity,” she said.

She also thanked President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government, and Ambassador Qi Zhenhong for ensuring the timely arrival of the uniforms, highlighting that the initiative promotes equality among students across the country.
