The appointment was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in accordance with the provisions of the Sri Lanka Scout Association Act No. 13 of 1957.
The official letter of appointment was handed over to Mr. Nanayakkara by Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (13).
Mr. Nanayakkara began his scouting journey in 1989 as a Junior Scout with the First Homagama Scout Group of Christuraja College, Pannipitiya. Over the years, he has served in several key roles, including District Commissioner, Chairman of the District Scout Training Board, and Legal Advisor to the Chief Scout Commissioner.
He has also played a major role in organizing and leading national-level scouting programs. His contributions include serving as a member of the Organizing Committee of the National Rover Moot and the National Organizer of the National Kaboree, among many other responsibilities.
Through his long-standing service and leadership, Mr. Nanayakkara has made a significant contribution to the development of the Sri Lankan scouting movement.
