Accordingly, bids were called under the National Competitive Bidding procedure for the disposal of the unusable steel, attracting submissions from eleven (11) bidders.
Based on the recommendations of the Higher-Level Standing Procurement Committee, the Cabinet granted approval at its meeting held on December 10, 2025, to proceed with the disposal of several items of unusable steel.
In addition, the Cabinet approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development to dispose of unusable steel materials valued at Rs. 114.51 million to M/s S R Steel (Pvt.) Ltd. This decision was taken after considering the committee’s recommendations, which were based on prices agreed upon following negotiations with the company. M/s S R Steel (Pvt.) Ltd. had submitted the highest bid among substantially responsive bids for four other unusable steel items.
