Although the policy had been updated from time to time in line with emerging needs, approval from the Cabinet of Ministers had not previously been obtained. In accordance with the policy declaration of the present government, “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor,” the policy has now been redrafted to align with the government’s economic and development priorities.
The recommendations of the Department of National Planning have also been incorporated into the revised draft policy.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Resources to implement the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy, integrating it with other relevant national policies.
