According to the CID, the theft had taken place over a prolonged period between March 18, 2024, and May 29, 2025. The arrests were made on January 12, 2026, by a special team of CID officers following an investigation into the incident.
The suspects, aged 27 and 36, are residents of the Mawanella and Getahetta areas.
They are scheduled to be produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court today (January 13, 2026).
