A total of 67,762 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka during the first eight days of 2026, according to data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).I

India remains the largest source market, with 11,367 visitors, accounting for 17% of total arrivals during the period.

Other major source countries include:

Russia – 8,425 tourists

United Kingdom – 6,067 tourists

Germany – 5,306 tourists

Australia – 3,285 tourists

The latest figures indicate a steady flow of international visitors to the island at the beginning of the year, reflecting continued global interest in Sri Lanka as a travel destination.

Meanwhile, 252,761 tourists visited Sri Lanka in January 2025, highlighting a strong recovery trend in the tourism sector compared to previous years.

Tourism authorities expect arrivals to increase further in the coming months with ongoing promotional campaigns and improved connectivity.
