President’s Counsel Sumathi Dharmawardena, a senior and highly experienced officer of the Attorney General’s Department, has been promoted to the position of Senior Additional Solicitor General by the Public Service Commission.
PC Dharmawardena has served in the Attorney General’s Department for over 32 years, holding several key positions during his long and distinguished career. His extensive experience and contribution to the Department formed the basis for this appointment.
The vacancy arose following the appointment of President’s Counsel Rohantha Abeysuriya, who was serving as the Senior Additional Solicitor General, as the President Judge of the Court of Appeal on 19 June 2025.
