Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya is set to lead the Sri Lankan delegation to the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, scheduled to take place later this month. She will be accompanied by Deputy Minister of Finance Anil Jayantha and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings aimed at promoting investment opportunities in Sri Lanka and exploring strategies to increase tourist arrivals.
The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, which gathers global leaders from government, business, civil society and academia, will be held from January 19 to 23 under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue.” The forum will focus on forward-looking discussions to address major global challenges and set shared priorities.
Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath noted that Sri Lanka did not participate in last year’s meeting as the new government had only recently taken office. He said that this year’s participation by a high-level delegation led by the Prime Minister reflects the government’s intention to re-engage actively with the international community.
US President Donald Trump is also expected to attend the Davos meeting.
