Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development of Sri Lanka, Bimal Rathnayake, met with Mr Mohamed Almasoud, the Sr. Specialist (Loan Operation) , Mr. Abdulrahaman M. Alsogheer, the Sr. Loans Specialist, Mr Faizal Almuallith, the Project Analysti. Minister Rathnayake was accompanied by Ministry Secretary,Dr. Kapila Perera.
Miniister Rathnayake highlighted recent positive developments and the effects of recent Cyclone Ditwah on Sri Lanka and also the action taken by the government in rasponse to the disaster. Discussion included political stability and economic progress of the country as well.
The Saudi fund is currently granting US$6 million for the development projects in Sri Lanka, and also an additional US$6 million has been agreed to be provided for the repair of roads damaged by Cyclone Ditwah. It was further stated that they hope to provide support for further development of the national highway system.
