The low-pressure area located over the Gulf of Mannar is continuing to weaken and move away from Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology said.

Accordingly, the impact of the system on the island’s weather is gradually decreasing.

However, light showers may still occur in the Northern, North-Central, Uva, and Eastern Provinces. Showers or thundershowers are also expected at several locations in other parts of the country during the evening or night.

Misty conditions are likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.

The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
