According to a police statement, one lane of the Colombo–Kandy Road will be closed in the Bandarawatta–Puwakpitiya section. The restriction will remain in effect until 15 March.
The traffic management plan has been implemented to facilitate construction activities related to the Kadawatha interchange and the 500-metre road section towards Mirigama under the Central Expressway project.
As an alternative route, motorists are advised to use the road from the Kadawatha town traffic light junction, via the expressway access road, up to the Aldeniyā traffic light junction, police said.
Drivers are requested to follow traffic instructions and use alternative routes to avoid congestion in the area.
