President Anura Kumara Dissanayake acknowledged that the recent disaster would inevitably impact the economy, recalling the severe economic crisis previously faced by the country due to corruption, inefficiency, mismanagement and poor political decisions of the past.
He said the public had entrusted the current administration with power at the Presidential and General Elections in the hope of clean governance, accountability, strong rule of law and protection of youth from drug abuse.
