According to reports, the suspect was taken into custody by security forces in the United Arab Emirates along with his wife and children. However, following initial investigations, the wife and children were later released by the authorities.
Police said that Konda Ranji alias Ranjith Kumara is wanted in Sri Lanka in connection with the murder of the Coordinating Secretary to former Minister Mangala Samaraweera. He is currently being detained at the Dubai Police Headquarters for further investigations.
Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that the suspect is a holder of a UAE Golden Visa, granting him a 10-year residency permit in the United Arab Emirates.
