Police said the deceased was the assistant of the lorry driver. Another person who was travelling in the lorry, along with several passengers from the two buses, sustained injuries in the accident.
The injured were admitted to the Kegalle and Mawanella hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the accident is yet to be confirmed, and police have launched further investigations into the incident.
