Former Minister Douglas Devananda, who was arrested and remanded in custody, was released on bail today (09) after being produced before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court.
The Magistrate ordered his release on bail when the case was taken up this morning.
Douglas Devananda was arrested in connection with an investigation into the discovery of a firearm that had reportedly been issued to him by the Sri Lanka Army for personal use in 2001. The matter came to light during the interrogation of organized criminal Makandure Madush in 2019.
