Addressing the gathering, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, stated that steps are being taken to reduce the glamour of award ceremonies and instead increase prize money. He also emphasized the importance of conducting workshops to cultivate a more culturally refined society with a deeper appreciation for the arts.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of the Sri Lankan Song Registration Portal (Song Registration Portal of Sri Lanka), a newly established digital platform designed to officially register and protect original musical creations by Sri Lankan artists.
The system allows lyricists, composers, and singers to submit their original works through a secure and organized process, ensuring recognition and ownership rights. It also enables artists to safeguard their intellectual property for future legal, commercial, and archival purposes.
Officials stated that the initiative will promote proper documentation, transparency, and professionalism, helping to strengthen Sri Lanka’s music industry.
