Organised for the third consecutive time by the Ceylon Gem and Jewellery Traders Association (CGJTA)—the country’s largest gem trade body—the exhibition marks a significant milestone in strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a global hub for gems and jewellery.

The three-day exhibition, held on January 7, 8 and 9, features 110 stalls and brings together over 2,000 leading international buyers from more than 50 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Italy, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Russia and Germany.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya highlighted the vital contribution of the gem and jewellery sector to strengthening Sri Lanka’s economy. She emphasized the importance of safeguarding the global reputation Sri Lankan gems enjoy and reaffirmed the government’s full support to elevate the industry through modern entrepreneurial approaches and sustainable practices. The Prime Minister also noted that exhibitions of this nature provide an excellent platform to showcase the skills of Sri Lankan artisans and the country’s natural resources to the world.
The event also witnessed the official launch of “The Sri Lankan Sapphire Legacy” magazine, published by Gem Sri Lanka, which highlights the heritage, creativity and global recognition of Sri Lanka’s gem industry.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by foreign ambassadors and high commissioners, diplomatic officials, Members of Parliament, CGJTA President Rizwan Nayeem, Vice President Hilmy Cassim, government officials, industry leaders, international delegates and buyers, along with a large gathering of stakeholders from the gem and jewellery sector.
