Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala said that investigations have revealed that Pulasthini Mahendran, alias Sarah Jasmine, the wife of the Katuwapitiya church bomber in the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, is not dead, contrary to previous claims by the former government.
The Minister made the announcement in Parliament today in response to a question from MP Mujibur Rahman regarding progress in the investigation into Sarah Jasmine amid suspicions that she may have fled the country.
Ananda Wijepala said that, if necessary, authorities would seek an open warrant to arrest her.
While there is no official information confirming that she is in India, the Minister said thorough investigations are ongoing.
He also noted that certain sensitive details could not be disclosed to Parliament at this stage.
