A consortium of companies led by John Keells Holdings PLC has contributed Rs. 400 million to the Government’s ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund, established to provide relief to communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

The contributions were made by several companies within the John Keells-led group, including South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) and Nations Trust Bank with Rs. 100 million each, while Lanka Marine Services (Pvt) Ltd, Jaykay Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd, Union Assurance and Elephant House contributed Rs. 50 million each.

The cheques were formally handed over yesterday afternoon (06) to Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat. The handover was made by Chairman of the John Keells Group, Krishan Balendra, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nations Trust Bank, Hemantha D. Gunetilleke, and Chief Executive Officer of South Asia Gateway Terminals, Steen Knudsen.

Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Financial Officer of John Keells Holdings PLC, Gihan Coorey, along with several members of the Boards of Directors of the respective companies, were also present at the occasion, representing the wider John Keells-led group.
