Indian army chief arrives in Sri Lanka on two-Day oficial visit

Chief of the Army Staff of India, General Upendra Dwivedi, is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today on a two-day official visit, the Indian Defence Ministry announced.

During the visit, General Dwivedi is expected to meet senior military and civil leadership, including the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, the Deputy Minister of Defence, and the Defence Secretary. Discussions will focus on areas of mutual interest such as training cooperation, capacity building, and regional security.

The Indian Army Chief will also pay homage at the IPKF War Memorial in Sri Lanka, honouring the supreme sacrifice of Indian soldiers.

According to the Indian Defence Ministry, the visit reaffirms India’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation, fostering mutual trust, and enhancing interoperability with friendly nations in the Indian Ocean Region.
